T. F. Rice lives in a small town in Western New York State named Perry with her husband and almost-teenage son, where she works as an accountant during the week. Her short fiction and poetry has been published in several "cross-genre" books, as well as various quarterlies and an anthology. The latest book is number two in a series of "City/Country Poet's Guides"; it is titled SMALL TOWNS ARE NOT SO SMALL (2008, Hidden Valley Farm Publ.)
The "City/Country" part of Rice's titles is a tribute to growing up all over the place, with a father in the military, not really being "from" anywhere. The first "Guide" was written as a tribute to Old Forge, New York, which is a lovely Adirondack town dear to Rice and her husband, son. The "Guide" books encourage reader participation, offering activities, information and gentle encouragement to write... or simply to "be creative".
In her spare time, she also edits The Other Herald, a small monthly literary publication aimed at isolated writers, established November 2006. In 2007, she authored a children's workbook for original thought, THE WIND BEING. Rice is also the author of a book of writing and life exercises, which started as a little-tiny zine style booklet.
